Adobe Premiere Pro doesn't have a one-click LUT import button — you install LUTs by copying .cube files into a specific folder on your system. Once they're there, they appear in the Lumetri Colour panel automatically.
Here's the exact process.
Step 1: Find the LUT Folder
Windows:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro 2025\Lumetri\LUTs\Creative
Mac:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/LUTs/Creative
If you prefer per-user installation (recommended if you share a machine), use:
Windows (user-level):
C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\LUTs\Creative
Mac (user-level):
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/LUTs/Creative
Create the Creative folder if it doesn't exist.
Step 2: Copy Your .cube Files
Unzip your LUT pack and copy all the .cube files into the folder from Step 1.
You can also create subfolders inside Creative to organise packs — Premiere will display them as groups in the dropdown.
Step 3: Restart Premiere
You need to restart Premiere Pro for the new LUTs to appear. A simple relaunch is enough — you don't need to reinstall anything.
Step 4: Apply the LUT
- Select your clip on the timeline
- Open Effects panel → search for Lumetri Color → drag it to the clip
- In the Effect Controls panel, expand Lumetri Color → Creative
- In the Look dropdown, find your LUT by name
- Adjust Intensity to control how strongly the LUT applies
The Intensity slider is essentially a blend between the original footage and the fully applied LUT. Start at 100% and reduce if needed — don't try to compensate for a LUT you don't like.
Input LUT vs Creative LUT
Premiere has two LUT slots:
- Basic Correction → Input LUT — use this for technical LUTs (log-to-linear transforms, camera manufacturer LUTs)
- Creative → Look — use this for stylistic / creative LUTs
For CleanLUTs packs, use the Creative → Look slot. These are designed to be applied after your footage is correctly balanced.
Troubleshooting
LUTs not appearing after restart — double-check the folder path. The AppData folder on Windows is hidden by default; enable "Show hidden files" in File Explorer options.
LUT looks wrong — check which folder you're using. Use the LOG folder for flat/log footage (S-Log3, C-Log, D-Log, etc.), and the STD folder for standard phone, drone, or Rec.709 footage. Applying the wrong version will look heavily washed out or flat.
Performance issues — .cube files are processed in real time. If playback stutters, render the LUT effect or work with proxy footage.
